Crossroads at Big Creek will present this summer’s final Words in the Woods event July 30, 7:30 pm. Arrive early to hike on one of the Habitat Loop Trails, then gather at the outdoor amphitheater to hear a short talk about nature, Megan Lundahl reading the bedtime story Wild Mindfulness by Laura Larson, and songwriter/guitarist Dorothy Scott sharing her beautiful music. An optional campfire with s’mores will follow at the Council Ring. Participants may also take their own snacks and lawn chairs.
Habitat Healers volunteers of all ages will meet July 31, 9:30-11:30 am, and Aug. 3, 6:30-8 pm, to help with land-restoration efforts. Instruction, equipment, gloves, cookies and lemonade will be provided. Meet at the workshop/nursery just beyond the main campus’s parking lot.
Discover how plants and animals from an ancient sea transformed into fossils Aug. 3, 10 am, when summer educator Joan Wilkie welcomes people of all ages to explore the wonders of Crossroads. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.
Then seek out summer butterflies in Crossroads’ gardens, meadows and fields Aug. 4, 10 am. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.
