Controversial Author David Kirby to Speak at DCEC Program

David Kirby, author of the controversial best-seller Animal Factory and Evidence of Harm, is the presenter for the annual Door County Environmental Council free summer program on Aug. 22.

In Animal Factory, investigative journalist Kirby exposes the powerful business and political interests behind large-scale factory farms, and tracks the far-reaching fallout that can contaminate the air and water supply.

Kirby is a contributor to the Huffington Post since its founding in 2005, has been a professional journalist for over 15 years. He was a foreign correspondent for UPI, and Newsday in Latin America, covering wars in El Salvador and Nicaragua, and covered politics, corruption and natural disasters in Mexico.

Seating is limited for this free presentation beginning at 7 pm at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall.

DCEC will also announce the “Environmental Citizen of the Year” award at the presentation.
