Cooper Guilty in Double Homicide

The jury of Dodge County residents in the retrial of Brian Cooper at the Door County Courthouse took about 2½ hours on Friday to deliver a guilty verdict on two counts of first-degree homicide in connection with the Aug. 19, 2012, strangulation of 21-year-old Alisha Bromfield at a resort in Nasawaupee. Bromfield was six months pregnant with a daughter at the time.

Cooper, 37, of Plainfield, Ill., pled not guilty in the first trial, based on the fact that he was drunk at the time of the murder. The first trial resulted in a hung jury, but he was found guilty at that trial of the sexual assault of his victim.
