Gibraltar Junior Cora Carriere Selected for Honors Orchestra

Gibraltar High School junior Cora Carriere has been selected to perform in the Wisconsin State Music Association’s prestigious High School Honors Orchestra as recognition of her hard work and exceptional musical abilities on the flute. Mary Bell is her private flute teacher.

The rigorous audition requirements set a high bar: Of the 72 flute players who auditioned statewide, 13 were selected for the band, and four were selected for the orchestra.

Carriere will attend a summer clinic with the director and the rest of the orchestra to prepare for an October performance in Madison’s Overture Center, and a recording of the concert will air on Wisconsin Public Television around Christmas.

In addition to excelling in music, Carriere is a dedicated student and helps to manage the uniforms for and assist with the seventh-grade band.
