Cory Vandertie Fills Vacancy As Southern Door Elementary Principal

The Southern door County School District announced that Cory Vandertie has been approved by the Board of Education as the district’s elementary principal, a vacancy created by the retirement of Mrs. Laurie Connell. A Meet & Greet reception will be hosted by the Southern Door Elementary PIE on Wednesday, June 7, from 5:30-6:30 pm in the elementary/middle school café. The public is invited. Vandertie returns to the Southern Door School district after serving five years as an administrator in the Green Bay School district. Prior to his administrative experience, Vandertie taught 13 years at Southern Door Elementary, serving as the gifted and talented coordinator and most recently as a 5th grade teacher. As an administrator in Green Bay, he developed expertise as an instructional leader, improving student achievement with diverse populations and engaging parents in the education of their children. As administrator of Green Bay’s after-school program, he supervised 12 sites, collaborated with community agencies, and secured significant grant funding and resources to increase the quality of the program and its services. Vandertie received his Master of Arts in leadership and director of instruction in 2012 from Viterbo University. As he looks to begin his tenure on July 1, 2017, Vandertie said:  “I am honored to have been selected to serve this great school community. I eagerly anticipate working collaboratively with students, staff and families, and learning more about their hopes and dreams for Southern Door Elementary.”

“Our administrative team looks forward to Cory’s expertise, leadership and passing returning to the Southern door community as our new elementary principal,” said Southern door Superintendent Patti Vickman.
