Cosmic Shift

Dusk shifted to darkness
and shrieks of excitement
rose to pierce the night
in our game of hide and seek.
Our shadows slipped
in and out of the sultry glow
of the neon light on the corner.

The dark night held us
teasing
pulsing just beneath our skin
mixing sweat with desire
heat rising in a game
catch me
if you can
if you want
please,

Under starlit sky
the solid earth on which
I stumbled
bedded me in nature.
Laughter rolled from my throat,
sought and caught
on the edge of passion
willing at that moment
to embrace the soundless lightning
now striking
in a distant part of heaven.
