County Announces New Parks Superintendent Ben Nelson

The Door County Facilities and Parks Department announced that Ben Nelson has been hired as the Parks Superintendent. Recently the Parks Department was merged with Door County Building and Grounds Department. Wayne Spritka has been the Building and Grounds Department Director for the past four years and will now oversee the newly formed Facilities and Parks Department for the County.

With the restructure, DC Parks will become a Division of the Facilities and Parks Department, reporting to an oversight committee, appointed by the county board chair and consisting of seven county board supervisors. Nelson is a graduate of UW-Green Bay, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and his Master’s in Organizational Leadership & Administration from Concordia University. He has a strong background in natural resources and is very excited to bring his talents and leadership to Door County.
