County Inspiration

“Barn on Fairview” by Barbara Sweeney.

The January 2015 exhibit at Hope Gallery in Sturgeon Bay will consist of watercolors by Barbara Sweeney of Sturgeon Bay.

Sweeney is a self-taught watercolorist. Over the last 10 years she has studied with Thea Kovac (Lost Playground Studio, Milwaukee); various instructors at the Peninsula School of Art; and Ed Fenendael (Morning Mist Studio, Baileys Harbor). Door County is the inspiration for her favorite watercolor subjects—landscapes, flowers, barns, trees, cows, and of course, water. The exploration of color using watercolors as the medium is a journey that takes her into a world which is gentle, quiet, joyful and exciting.

Hope Church Gallery, located at 144 South 12th Ave. in Sturgeon Bay, is open 9 am – 1 pm Tuesday through Friday and 9 am – 2 pm Sunday.
