County Road Construction Updates

The Door County Highway Department has two road reconstruction projects on its agenda this fall, the first on County Road H from Stone Road to County Road O. The project includes the marking and cutting of driveways and intersections, milling or removing existing roadway asphalt, fine grading and compaction where needed, and re-asphalting with new centerline striping.

The road will be closed to through traffic during the work day, from approximately 6 am to 4 pm. Every effort will be made to keep the road open for local traffic to businesses and homes. Flaggers may be used when needed during the construction process. The road will be open to through traffic nightly.

The project began Oct. 2 and has an expected completion date, without the centerline striping, of Oct. 20.

The highway department is also working on a road reconstruction project on County Road S from County Road OO to County Road H. The project includes road pulverization, fine grading and compaction, and re-asphalting with new centerline striping.

Motorists will be detoured during the work day from approximately 5:30 am to 7 pm. Flaggers may be used when needed during the construction process.

The project was expected to begin Oct. 9, with an expected completion date of Nov. 3, without the centerline striping.

For both construction projects, every effort will be made to keep the road open for local traffic to businesses and homes.
