Southern Door Schools along with Gibraltar and Sevastopol are hosting a presentation for parents, educators and community members by Justin Patchin of Cyberbullying Research Center (cyberbullying.org). The presentation titled “Teen Technology Use and Misuse” will cover a broad overview of cyberbullying, including issues parents, educators and teens need to know about how youth use and misuse technology to cause harm to peers. The presentation will define and provide examples of cyberbullying and discuss the role of parents in preventing and responding to inappropriate online behaviors. It will also describe many of the online environments popular among adolescents today and strategies to use to make sure technology is used safely and responsibly. Patchin is a professor of criminal justice at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The event takes place at 6:30 pm on Friday, March 10.
