County Snowmobile Trails Are Open

With a winter wonderland descending on us the past week, all Door County snowmobile trails are now open.

The South-East Zone opened Dec. 20 and is reported in fair condition.

The Central Zone opened on Dec. 22 and also is reported in fair condition with minimal grooming.

The South-West Zone opened on Dec. 23 and is reported in poor to fair condition with minimal grooming.

The Northern Door Zone opened the morning of Dec. 24 and is reported in fair condition.

A common complaint among the snowmobile clubs who have the responsibility of marking and grooming of trails is that everyone wants to ride the trails but very few want to do the work to make that happen. Joining a club and getting involved is the best way to keep the trails open. All clubs in the county are looking for new members.

The Villagers Snowmobile Club’s next meeting is 7:30 pm on Jan. 14 at the Peninsula Gun Club on Juddville Road in Fish Creek. Visit the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs website (awsc.org) for contact information for the six other Door County snowmobile clubs.
