Following the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Prevea Health is now administering booster doses of Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines for adolescents aged 12-15.
“As we see pediatric cases rise across the country, it’s very important that we protect our children from COVID-19 infection,” said Dr. Ashok Rai, president and CEO of Prevea Health. “The latest data has shown that COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are seven to 11 times higher in unvaccinated adolescents compared to vaccinated adolescents.”
This booster dose can be administered at least five months after a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. At this time, Pfizer is the only vaccine approved for youth aged 12-17.
