Cowboy Church Welcomes Sherry DePolis Aug. 1 & 2

Singer/songwriter Sherry DePolis will be at the Cowboy Church in Ellison Bay for two events: Aug. 1 & 2 at 7 pm.

While growing up DePolis was surrounded by the love of music. Every Saturday night, the family gathered around the radio to hear the Grand Ole Opry. Her father loved to yodel. One of her fondest memories is of her mother and father singing together “When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again.” At a young age DePolis learned to play all of her old favorite country songs on her guitar.

Since then Sherry has written numerous songs and recorded seven CDs. DePolis’ husband Art Thompson and friend Royce Sorensen will join her on the mandolin, banjo and dobro.

The Aug. 1 concert will be held in the Cowboy Church horse stable located at 12376 Timberline Road, Ellison Bay. There will be a $5 donation at the door. The evening of music will start at 6:30 pm with the Cowboy Church Musicians playing their favorite instrumental tunes from 6:30 to 7, followed by DePolis, Thompson and Sorensen for a concert of country classics, original country gospel, and yodeling.

On Aug. 2, DePolis and the Country Grass Band, consisting of Art Thompson and friend Royce Sorensen, will return to the stable for a Sunday morning service at 10 am. An all-church potluck will follow the service at Ellison Bay Community Park.

While the concerts are in the horse stable, it is an open-air event so bring a jacket, mosquito repellent and a lawn chair. For more information contact Pastor Lloyd at 920.421.1327, or visit CowboyChurchDoorCounty.com.
