Create Birdseed Ornaments

Door County Land Trust is offering free birdseed-ornament kits to entice winged messengers to your yard during its For the Birds event, set for Dec. 3, 10 am – 2 pm, at the Sister Bay Village Hall, 10693 Hwy 42. 

During the pandemic, birdwatching saw a spike in popularity, and studies have documented an increase in mental well-being – even for up to eight hours – when people hear birds or watch avian happenings outside their windows. 

The Land Trust’s ornament kits contain instructions and supplies to make birdseed ornaments in the shape of a northern cardinal, as well as winter birding tips and resources for identifying birds. Hot chocolate will be available to event attendees.
