Create Heirloom Jewelry with Angela Lensch

Plum Bottom Studio is hosting an Heirloom Jewelry Workshop that runs Nov. 12 – 15 (10 am – 4 pm daily).

This workshop is open to people of all experience levels with an interest in creating jewelry. Plum Bottom’s resident jeweler, Angela Lensch, will instruct participants how to create one-of-a-kind jewelry using heirloom beads, gemstones, pearls, crystals, etc. The class will take a field trip to a local bead store to find the right additions for designs and Lensch will display her private bead collection.

Lensch will teach participants how to administer the basic wire wrap technique used in the fabrication of necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. She will also introduce the class to her unique woven wire technique to weave together a necklace and/or bracelet with either 14k gold-filled or sterling silver wire.

Participants are asked to bring their own supplies, and will be assigned homework (collecting various fabrics and beads). Some of the materials, as well as light snacks and drinks, will be supplied.

Tuition is $195 plus material fees (changes according to the complexity and amount of jewelry created).

Lensch recently traveled to India, where she taught two wrapped bead workshops with a paper making women’s cooperative and a sari textiles woman’s cooperative. In preparing for the workshops, she practiced making the fabric wrapped beads using fabric from her grandmother’s apron. These beads became a beautiful necklace that Lensch cherishes, and is the inspiration behind this workshop.

Plum Bottom Studio is located at 4999 Plum Bottom Road in Egg Harbor.
