Credit Card Reading Device Found at Kewaunee Fuel Pump

On Sept. 7, 2017 the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint that an electronic credit card reading device had been found at a fuel pump within Kewaunee County. Upon arrival, officers were provided information that the device would have been installed sometime in the early morning hours of Sept. 7, and that the devices were installed on two different pumps at that location. The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department along with all local law enforcement agencies have notified all fuel point services throughout Kewaunee County to determine the extent of this activity. No other fuel points in Kewaunee County were found to have been tampered with. The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department has contacted all gas station owners in the area and the Door County Sheriff’s Department to keep a look out for other possible cases of skimming devices.
