All cross country ski trails are open in all areas of the county and the weather forecast predicts more great skiing opportunities. Here are the conditions for the state parks and Crossroads.
Potawatomi State Park: All trails were last groomed for skate skiing and tracked for diagonal stride on Feb. 4. The skate lane and diagonal stride tracks are firm, fast and rated very good.
Crossroads at Big Creek: All trails were leveled and groomed on Feb. 4, with a new track set. Friends of Crossroads will loan ski equipment and snowshoes for free on Sunday afternoons from 1 to 3 pm.
Whitefish Dunes State Park: With the exception of the area close to the trailhead/Nature Center, tracks are in very good condition after a busy weekend. Base is very firm, tracks are full depth with minimal debris.
Peninsula State Park: Everything was groomed on Jan. 31 and the yellow trail was groomed again Feb. 1 after the candlelight ski. Trails are in good to very good condition.
Newport State Park: Newport and Europe Bay loops single-track trails are in excellent shape.
