Crossroads Buys Ginzugroomer, Plans for Ski for Free

Crossroads at Big Creek’s Run the Distance at a Distance event in June helped to raise funds to purchase a Ginzugroomer. With this top-of-the-line equipment, Crossroads will be able to offer classical and skate-ski opportunities, free of charge.

At this time, Friends of Crossroads intends to once again lend equipment – cross-country skis, boots, poles and snowshoes in all sizes for families, groups and individuals – through its popular Ski for Free program. Volunteers help fit novice and experienced skiers alike with the proper equipment and send them out on the miles of groomed trails to explore at no charge. No reservations are needed.

During the pandemic, guests should follow posted safety instructions, stay distanced from other groups and wear a mask while being outfitted for equipment. All equipment will be sanitized between uses. More details will follow once snow conditions are adequate.

The Door Peninsula Astronomical Society will host its monthly meeting Dec. 15, 7 pm, via Zoom. The society’s secretary and outreach chair, Tom Minahan, will present “Blackbody Radiation and the Formulation of the Quantum.” Receive the Zoom invitation by emailing [email protected] with “Black Body” as the subject line.
