Crossroads Celebrates Earth Day with a Hike and Storytelling Event

All over the nation, people will celebrate Earth Day April 22. Crossroads at Big Creek will offer a Sunday afternoon nature hike, weather permitting, to celebrate. This gentle ramble, starting at 1 pm, will be a visit to various spots along Big Creek. Hikers will look for fish and wildflowers. Wear shoes or boots that can get wet. Hikers should meet at the Collins Learning Center.

On April 26 at 7 pm, Crossroads hosts the collaborative Wild Words storytelling event, organized by Door County Land Trust and Write On Door County. This year’s theme is “Celebrate the Waters of Door County.” During this program, each storyteller will show 20 pictures at 20 seconds per picture. The format, called “pecha kucha,” is Japanese for chit-chat and gives each storyteller 6 minutes and 40 seconds to interpret the water in any way they wish. The program is free and open to the public.

The Collins Learning Center at Crossroads, located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay, is open 2-4 pm daily and during scheduled activities.
