Crossroads Earns Aerospace Outreach Award

Crossroads at Big Creek earned an Aerospace Outreach Award and accompanying $3,000 grant recently at the Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium’s annual conference. Crossroads received this award thanks to a collaboration with the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society (DPAS) and the Door County Library System. DPAS visited the county’s libraries with a state-of-the-art inflatable planetarium to show patrons stunning views of the skies. During the school year, Crossroads will work with DPAS to expand space outreach to schools and youth and adult groups.

DPAS will be at the Crossroads Astronomy campus for a viewing night Aug. 31, 7 pm. Start in the planetarium; then view the night sky – with targets including the North American Nebula, the Globular Cluster M15 and Saturn – when it gets dark. The public is also welcome to join DPAS on Sept. 2, 7 pm, for its regular meeting at the Stonecipher Astronomy Center.

The Collins Learning Center, 2041 Michigan St., is open weekdays, 10 am – 4 pm; and weekends, 1-4 pm. The center will be closed Sept. 2, but the trails and restrooms will be available for use.
