Crossroads Hosts Sunday in the Village Programs

The Door County Historical Society invites the community to Sunday in The Village each Sunday between 1:30 – 3:30 pm at Crossroads at Big Creek. Admission and village tours are free and each week features a different program.

On July 15 at 2 pm, Jane Cole will present a hands-on program where participants can smell and handle many of the valued herbs of the late 1800s. Learners of all ages will enjoy stepping back in history for this intriguing presentation.

The program is free and open to the public. Members of the Door County Historical Society will sell home-baked goodies to raise money for the upkeep of the Village.

Crossroads also offers free Family Programs, which begin at 1:30 pm, with varying topics during the week. On July 16, the program is “Pioneer School Day.” Families are invited to join Schoolmarm Joan Wilkie for typical lessons of the early 1900s.

On July 17, birds and wildflowers are the topic, and participants will learn to identify the wildflowers and birds found in July.

On July 18, the program is “Life in a 1900s Farmhouse.”

Participants will explore a log cabin complete with a kitchen, pantry and second floor. Kids will also be able to try on period clothing.

Crossroads is located at 2041 Michigan Street, east of Highway 42/57 in Sturgeon Bay.
