Crossroads Hosts UW-O Center Studying Water Quality

Researchers from the Environmental Research and Innovation Center at UW-Oshkosh have set up a lab at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay to study water quality: testing beaches for pathogens, researching sand and nutrient loading in area creeks, and resuming a well-testing program for Door County residents and businesses.

Until Sept. 1, contactless bottle pickup and sample dropoff times are Monday – Thursday, 12-3 pm, at the rear entrance of the Collins Learning Center. A homeowner’s kit ($65) includes testing for coliform/E.coli bacteria, nitrate and arsenic, plus a cumulative test that includes iron, hardness, pH and alkalinity. Call the research center at 920.424.3148 if you have questions.
