Crossroads Hosts WaterFest Nov. 28

Protecting our land and water is important, and Crossroads at Big Creek will emphasize this on Nov. 28 at one of their popular family programs, WaterFest. At WaterFest, Crossroads will screen the presentation from Professor Bassam Shakhashiri from the first WaterFest in 2007. The screening is scheduled for 1 pm. At 2 pm, the lab will be open for families to do water-related experiments and demonstrations. And free WaterFest shirts will be given to participants. At 3 pm, a video will be shown of the making of the Crossroads Great Lakes Ecosystem Exhibit. Programs are child-friendly, so bring the family to the activities.

On Nov. 30 at 6 pm, Friends of Crossroads invite the community to join them in decorating the Collins Learning Center for the holidays. Warm cider, cookies and music will be provided and most participants bring a finger food snack to share. A short meeting will follow the festivities.

The Door Peninsula Astronomical Society invites the public to attend their monthly meeting on Dec. 1 at 7 pm at the Stonecipher Astronomy Center, 2200 Utah Street in Sturgeon Bay. Mike Egan will present the lecture “The Aging of the Universe” and Dave Udell will share the “Latest News in Astronomy.”

The Collins Learning Center at Crossroads at Big Creek is open daily (except Wednesday and Thursday of Thanksgiving week) from 2 – 4:30 pm. Trails are free and open to the public. For more information visit crossroadsatbigcreek.com.
