Crossroads Presents the Village Series and Cross-generational Programs

The Board of Crossroads at Big Creek recently passed a policy stopping the use of fertilizers or pesticides on lawn areas and gathering areas. To celebrate, Crossroads is offering a variety of programs in June.

The Historical Village opens its Sunday at The Village Series on June 17 with a free concert by the Door Peninsula Symphonic Band. Since June is Dairy Month, the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and the Door County Dairy Promotions Committee will provide free ice cream for this kick-off event. The concert begins at 2 pm, and concertgoers should bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. (In case of rain, the concert will move into the Collins Learning Center.)

Two Cross-generational Programs will also be offered; these programs offer free learning experiences with one adult and one youth (ages 7-12) participating together. Registration is required.

On June 15 from 10 – 11 am, “The Real Stars of Harry Potter” is offered at the Stonecipher Astronomy Center. Fans of the Harry Potter series know that many characters are named for celestial objects. Participants will enjoy a planetarium show to learn where the “real stars” are located.

On June 19 from 10 – 11:30 am, “Bread, Butter and Chores” is offered at the Warren House of The Historical Village. In this hands-on activity, pairs of learners will churn butter, kneed bread, help in the garden and sample the food.
