Crossroads Promotes PlayCleanGo Awareness Week

Crossroads at Big Creek is joining other environmental groups nationwide June 5-12 to celebrate PlayCleanGo Awareness Week: a national campaign to highlight the simple steps that outdoor enthusiasts can take to stop the spread of invasive species.

Crossroads visitors will see the PlayCleanGo logo on new trailhead boot-brush stations to remind hikers to clean the mud from their footwear both when setting out and leaving to avoid transporting seeds into and out of the preserve.

Habitat Healers – volunteers of any age, with or without experience – will pull mustard June 5, 9:30-11:30 am. Wear appropriate footwear and clothes that can get dirty; equipment and gloves will be provided. Habitat Healers will also meet June 8, 4:30-6:30 pm.

Join the Crossroads naturalist for a gentle walk through the Ida Bay Preserve in search of wildflowers June 6, 4:30 pm. The hike will involve about an hour of easy walking. Meet at the small parking area at the intersection of Canal Road and Buffalo Ridge Trail Road.
