Crossroads Teams Up with Door County Reads for Two Programs

Crossroads at Big Creek is partnering with Door County Reads to offer two programs.

Tap into memories of your hometown to discover its stories through guided writing prompts during Hometown Writing – a program facilitated by Write On, Door County – on Jan. 30, 1-2:30 pm. Then at 7 pm, attend the Door County Reads lecture “Home Is More Than a Place” to learn some of the natural history of the wind, lake and creatures that figure so prominently in Virgil Wander by Leif Enger, and ponder how our communities often mirror nature.

Head to Crossroads on Feb. 1, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm; and Feb. 2, 1-3:30 pm, for Ski for Free. Crossroads and Door County Silent Sports lend, free of charge, an array of ski and snowshoe equipment in sizes to fit age three through large adults. When the weather permits skiing, volunteers will fit you with equipment at the Crossroads maintenance building. Check crossroadsatbigcreek.org for current trail conditions.

On Feb. 2, 2 pm, take a Groundhog Day hike to visit some of the habitats where groundhogs and other members of the squirrel family make their homes. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.

The Collins Learning Center, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay, is open weekdays, 10 am – 4 pm; and weekends, 1-3:30 pm.
