Cupola Collective Opens in Egg Harbor

Egg Harbor’s historical Cupola House has reopened as the new Cupola Collective retail space, which is home to four Door County residents’ small businesses: Au Naturale Cosmetics, the Cupola Cafe, Daughters and Co., Effie Street Kids and xoMe Studio. An open house Aug. 19, 5-8 pm, will celebrate the collective’s opening.

Sister Bay resident Ashley Prange is an entrepreneur who founded Au Naturale Cosmetics – a clean-beauty, handmade cosmetic line that’s formulated and manufactured in Green Bay. In addition to her own line, she offers products from Linné Botanicals, Luce di Sorrento and many more.

Prange also owns the Cupola Cafe, which uses freshly roasted beans from Isley Coffee Roasters in Ephraim and all house-made syrups, and offers Austrian-style baked goods, freshly pressed Bonafide Juice and chocolates from DC Chocolate Design. The cafe has free Wi-Fi with indoor and outdoor seating.

Daughters and Co. features an evolving selection of wine, beer and spirits, with an emphasis on organic, biodynamic and related natural-production methods. The shop also offers grab-and-go snacks and vintage glassware and bar tools. With more than two decades of beverage-industry experience spanning both coasts, Ryan Ibsen is on hand to offer his knowledge in selecting a bottle to enjoy.

Effie Street Kids features a collection of children’s clothes, gifts and playthings from artisans and designers far and wide, and a restored Singer chain-stitch embroidery machine from the 1920s is being installed to allow customization on many items. Owner Jillian Pasztor hopes to collaborate soon on children’s products with other local artists.

On the second floor is xoMe Studio, where photographer Laura Quackenboss offers creative photo sessions in the intimate space and will be hosting a series of print shop pop-up events. Some of her photography prints are available for purchase just inside the building’s main entrance.

One room of the house also serves as a rotating gallery space for local artists. Currently on display are plein air paintings by Nan Zimdars and Dorothy McDowell.

The Cupola Collective, 7836 Hwy 42 in Egg Harbor, is open Thursday-Monday, 10 am – 5 pm. The cafe opens at 8 am.
