Custom Fishing-Rod Event Comes to Door County

Door County’s first custom fishing-rod event will be held April 30, 8:30 am – 3 pm, and May 1, 8:30 am – 12 pm, at The Lodge at Leathem Smith, ​​1640 Memorial Dr. in Sturgeon Bay.

Bill Batson, owner of Batson Enterprises in Seattle, will be the featured speaker both days and will discuss rod blank technology, guide spacing and custom fishing-rod building components.

Additional speakers include John Sturm discussing laser engraving, Luke Bousley demonstrating custom cork handles, Garry Land presenting on guide spacing and tracking axis, Emma Bousley speaking about trim wraps and youth custom rod building, and Ray Morris discussing custom fly rods and fly-rod components, among others. Local author Hans Feld will also sell his books.
