Custom Paintings, Floral Bowls At First Friday

On Dec. 1, 4-8 pm, custom-painter Christina Schunke of Touch My Art Studio will have some of her work on hand at the ribbon-cutting of the recently reopened Havegard Birdseed Factory Outlet Store, 225 Navarino St. in Algoma. The ribbon-cutting correlates with Algoma’s First Friday art event, during which downtown businesses open their doors for an evening of art exhibitions.

In addition to making custom paintings on canvas, Schunke paints animals and landscapes on items like frying pans, circular saw blades, wooden spoons, old windows and more.

Clay on Steele will have its own First Friday event, 4-7 pm the same day. Guests can enjoy spiced wine and snacks, peruse new bowls by potter Ellen Levenhagen, and decorate a bowl of their own. Clay on Steele is located at 221 Steele St. in Algoma.

A bowl by Ellen Levenhagen. Submitted.
