Cynthia Stiehl and Ben Larsen Perform in the DCA Fireside Lobby

On Feb. 10, 7 pm at Door Community Auditorium (DCA), mezzo soprano Cynthia Stiehl will perform a concert of “loving songs” in the fireside lobby. Known for her recitals of American art song, opera, and musical theater, Stiehl’s repertoire extends from Bach to Gershwin and beyond. She has appeared as a guest soloist with symphonies, choirs, and ensembles in Florida, Massachusetts, Oregon and Wisconsin. Door County audiences are familiar with Stiehl’s benefit performances for local nonprofit organizations. Stiehl will be accompanied by Chicago-based pianist Jeremy Kahn, whose numerous performance credits include appearances with Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Joni Mitchell, Phil Woods, Terumaso Hino, Charlie Haden, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Cook, and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

On Feb. 17 at 7 pm, Door County’s own singer/guitarist Ben Larsen will perform at the DCA Fireside Lobby. Larsen, a Sturgeon Bay native, has been singing since kindergarten. While still in high school, Larsen was the drummer for the band Fresco, also featuring Sturgeon Bay musician Michael Raye. He was also a member of the Door County band The Johnsons. In young adulthood, he performed for several years with the Heritage Ensemble (now Northern Sky Theater), where he learned to play guitar. Larsen has put his solo act back together and now performs his trademark brand of smooth pop-folk across the Door peninsula.

Coffee and treats from Base Camp Coffee Shop will be available for purchase. Tickets for each of these concerts are $17.50. Seating is limited; advance reservations are recommended and can be made at the DCA box office, located on Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is 12-5 pm, Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased in person, by calling 920.868.2728 or online at dcauditorium.org.
