Dannhausen Teaches Writers How to Get In Print

The Clearing Folk School announces a new writing class taught by Myles Dannhausen Jr., longtime contributing editor of the Peninsula Pulse and Door County Living magazine.

In “Getting In Print: How to Pitch Publications to Get Your Story Read,” Dannhausen will teach writers strategies for getting their essays, short stories, and articles in print. The class takes place Sept. 22.

“When it comes to getting published, many aspiring writers simply don’t know where to start,” Dannhausen says. “Many are too intimidated to try, and most of those that do don’t know how to frame their idea for their target publication, or make small adjustments to their writing to make it resonate with editors and readers.”

Dannhausen fielded hundreds of queries in his eight years as news editor of the Peninsula Pulse. He’ll share tips for all aspects of pitching, including: pitching basics, finding the most intriguing angle, identifying the right target publications, connecting ideas to local or current events, and tips and resources for becoming a better writer.

Dannhausen encourages writers to come to the class with a story idea or a completed story to refine in this one-day class. For more information, visit theclearing.org or call 920.854.4088.
