Daoust’s 34 Points Power Eagles Past Bulldogs

Three of Door County’s varsity boys basketball teams played their first Packerland Conference games of the season Thursday, when only one of them won.

Drew Daoust scored a game-high 34 points, including six three-pointers, to lead Southern Door to a 65-55 Packerland Conference victory at Peshtigo.

Lauden Berg added 13 points for the Eagles, who led 33-23 at halftime.

The Bulldogs also had two players score in double figures. Dominik Baxter had a team-high 25 points, followed by Silas Williams with 12.

Southern Door’s season record stands at 1-0 in the Packerland and 1-2 overall going into Tuesday’s home conference game against Sevastopol.

Vikings Stopped by Storm

Braden Sitte’s 24 points were not enough Thursday when Gibraltar lost at Kewaunee, 64-48.

The Storm, which led 34-24 at halftime, was led by Thomas Stangel with 34 points. Avery Jerabek added 25 points.

Up next for the Vikings (0-1, 0-2) will be a pair of home games – a non-conference contest Saturday against Laona-Wabeno before Tuesday’s league matchup against NEW Lutheran.

Clippers Clobbered at Oconto

Sturgeon Bay scored the most points of any county school Thursday evening, but the Clippers ended up losing at Oconto, 97-67.

Calvin Richard led three Sturgeon Bay players in double figures with 25 points. Jackson Starr added 20 points with Danny Lodl tallying 10 more.

Carter Koch led four Blue Devil players in double figures with a game-high 40 points.

The Clippers (0-1, 1-1) next host a conference game Tuesday against Peshtigo

Pioneers Lose Non-League Game

Sevastopol went on the road Thursday for a non-conference game, losing 48-36 at Mishicot.

Zaul Valdivia led the Pioneers with 10 points. Logan Schuh added nine points.

Up next for Sevastopol (0-0, 1-2) is its first conference game of the season Tuesday at Southern Door.
