Thomas Davis of Sturgeon Bay has released his latest book of poetry, Mythos of the Door. It contains works about every part of Door County that are largely narrative or lyric, and presented through traditional forms.
The book includes works about the Native inhabitants of the peninsula and Washington Island, stories of shipwrecks, ekphrastic poems about current galleries and the sonnet sequence that was originally published in Davis’ award-winning novel In the Unsettled Homeland of Dreams.
He has earned the Edna Ferber Fiction Book Award, and his last book of poetry, Meditation on Ceremonies of Beginnings, received an Outstanding Achievement Award in Poetry from the Wisconsin Library Association. Davis and his wife, poet and artist Ethel Mortenson Davis, also own and operate Four Windows Press, which has published poetry and fiction by local and national writers.
Mythos of the Door is available at local bookstores and major online outlets.
