DCA Announces 2023 Season Lineup
The Door Community Auditorium’s (DCA) 2023 performance schedule features a diverse array of performers that includes Gladys Knight, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Sierra Ferrell, KT Tunstall, Martin Sexton, Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters, Hiplet and many more.
“It’s always exciting to share a new season,” said Cari Lewis, DCA’s executive director. “The concerts we’re presenting this season are very eclectic. I think they’ll appeal to a wide spectrum of musical tastes. We selected this year’s shows with two main goals in mind: first, being inclusive; and second, hosting artistically excellent, fun and healing experiences for our community.”
DCA will open the season June 10 with the community music celebration Play It Forward at Sister Bay’s Stabbur Beer Garden, followed by DCA’s official opening night June 20 with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. A night of Pride anthems with special guest Owen Alabado on June 23, plus a concert by songwriter Mat Kearney on June 26, will round out June.
July starts with a double bill of KT Tunstall and Martin Sexton on July 1. Wisconsin’s own BoDeans will take the stage July 7, followed by magnetic honky-tonker Sierra Ferrell on July 10, and Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton as the frontman for his band, The Boxmasters, on July 13. Seminal Southern rockers The Marshall Tucker Band will appear July 15, followed by the “Empress of Soul” – Gladys Knight – on July 20, New Orleans’ Rebirth Brass Band on July 25, and The Voice sibling-band sensation Girl Named Tom on July 30.
On Aug. 13, “kindie rock” children’s music favorite Laurie Berkner will take the stage, and on Aug. 29, DCA will present the Happy Together Tour, which includes The Turtles, Little Anthony, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, The Vogues, The Classics and The Cowsills.
DCA will keep going strong in the fall with Blues Hall of Famer Robert Cray on Sept. 10, Chicago tribute band Alive Again on Sept. 16, an epic ’80s singalong with Choir!Choir!Choir! on Sept. 22, and the return of country legend Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives on Sept. 28.
The Chicago ballet innovators Hiplet will perform Oct. 6; the high-energy Celtic band Tartan Terrors will take the stage Oct. 15; and don’t miss When You Wish upon a Star: A Jazz Tribute to 100 Years of Disney on Oct. 22.
DCA will kick off the holiday season Nov. 25 with an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party with Big Mouth and Special Guests.
