DCA Celebrates the Holiday Season with “The Nutcracker”

The David Taylor Dance Theatre (DTDT) celebrates the yuletide season at the Door Community Auditorium (DCA) with “The Nutcracker.” Under the direction of the company’s founder David Taylor, the DTDT version of everyone’s holiday favorite is bright, bold, and imaginative. This special performance will be featured on the DCA stage Thursday, December 6 at 7 pm.

Since its premiere performance in 1986, DTDT has performed “The Nutcracker” to the delight of audiences throughout the United States. Described as a “bright, bold ‘Nutcracker’ a treat for the eyes” by Marc Shulgold, the DTDT production has received rave reviews. Incorporating Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s exquisite score, Mr. Wallace’s choreography has brought together all of the elements of the beloved tale to life in a production both fun and fresh.

Brimming with originality, David Taylor’s production is witty and charming. “For the David Taylor Dance Theatre, ‘The Nutcracker’ isn’t just a famous ballet. It’s a way of life,” wrote Barry Ebert. Following six months of grueling preparation each year, The Nutcracker arrives to fulfill holiday dreams with dancing sugar plums and marching toy soldiers in a ballet that will entertain and charm audiences of all ages.
