Gibraltar Senior Amber Kelly Organizes Domestic Violence Program

One in three women and one in four men are victims of domestic violence. These staggering statistics suggest that many individuals in our community have suffered or are suffering, often in silence.

On March 28 at 7 pm the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek will host “Stand by Me: Creating Support for Victims of Domestic Abuse in Our Community,” a presentation and panel discussion addressing the varied types of domestic violence, how to recognize signs of abuse, and how to help victims and yourself.

The presentation, organized by Gibraltar High School senior Amber Kelly, will feature a variety of clips from popular films portraying domestic violence, sexual harassment, and healthy relationships along with a discussion from community members who witness and work with the impact of these acts on a daily basis. Admittance is free, though monetary or health and cleaning products donations to benefit HELP of Door County will be accepted. Cookies and coffee will be served courtesy of the Baileys Harbor Cornerstone Pub.
