DCAL Announces Artists of the Week

The Gallery of the Door County Art League, located at the Top of the Hill Shops in Fish Creek, will feature the work of Dianne Saron and Steve Krueger during the week of August 28.

From her work in black and white portraiture, Saron evolved to a love for the rich and buttery colors in her vibrant pastels. She moved to Door County in 2001 and was influenced by Mary Bosman. She exhibits at the Paint Box Gallery and Bosman Studio in Sturgeon Bay. Her colorful landscapes and water scenes “show the relationship between the sky, water, and their reflections,” she said, adding that she “loves the directness of the pastel to the surface.”

Krueger, a Green Bay artist, enjoys the fluidity of watercolor. His landscape and water scenes capture the simplicity and beauty that Door County offers. In addition to watercolors, he specializes in art that depicts trains and creates stylized and personalized train scenes.

The work of Master Artists of the Door County Art League, David and Jeanne Aurelius, will be featured at the gallery for the month of September. Pottery and tile artists, the Aurelius’s talent have been shared with elementary schools throughout the county through artist in residence programs that create tile murals of the community. Additional work can be seen at Clay Bay Pottery in Ellison Bay.
