DCAL Announces Artists of the Week

The Door County Art League (DCAL) Gallery is featuring the artwork of Gretchen Misselt and Beverly Hart Branson, artists of the week, July 1 – 8.

An accomplished fiber artist, Misselt also loves to paint the landscapes of Washington Island with pastels. She endeavors to capture the light, textures and colors that her island home offers.

She holds a BA in applied art from Iowa State University and an MFA from Northern Illinois University. Misselt was awarded first place at the graduate art show at the NIU Gallery in Chicago in 2004.

Branson, of Sturgeon Bay, enjoys painting plein air and in her Treetop Studio. Using watercolor, ink and oil, she creates imaginative birds, creatures, trees and scenes. According to Branson, her inspiration is “the endless 360-degree beauty of Door County.” She sees herself as a pilgrim, creating visual reminders of fleeting glimpses into the infinite beauty of nature and the spheres.

The DCAL Gallery, open daily from 10 am – 5 pm, is located at the Top of the Hill Shops on Highway 42 in Fish Creek.
