DCAL Announces Demonstration and Artists of the Week

Sally Berner will demonstrate her painting techniques at the upcoming Door County Art League meeting.

The Door County Art League (DCAL) presents Green Bay artist Sally Berner at the July 23 meeting at 7 pm at the Gibraltar Fire Station. Berner will demonstrate dog portraiture.

An acclaimed animal and landscape oil painter, Berner won first place in the Artist’s Magazine annual art competition and has been included in juried national and regional shows for the Oil Painters of America.

A past-president of DCAL (1999-2000), Berner says, “I love traveling the back roads of Door County where there is a wealth of inspirational scenery and farm animals just begging to be painted.”

The public is invited to the meeting and admission is free.

DCAL artists of the week, July 22 – 29, are Gale Ritchey and Jerry Dommer. To celebrate, the artists will host a wine and cheese reception on July 22 from 1 – 4 pm. The reception is open to the public, and Ritchey will demonstrate her artistic technique.

Psychic healer/artist Ritchey, of Fish Creek, infuses healing qi and subtle energy into the fractal forms she channels onto canvas. Her photography was featured in the 2011 Hardy Gallery juried photography show.

Dommer, of Baileys Harbor, uses watercolors and pen and ink to create his favorite Door County landmarks.

The DCAL gallery, open daily from 10 am – 5 pm, is located at the Top of the Hill Shops on Highway 42 in Fish Creek.
