DCAL Gallery Features Pfister and Shanahan

“Cana Island Light” by Penny Pfister.

The Door County Art League (DCAL) Gallery will showcase the artwork of two local painters Penny Pfister and Karen Shanahan during Aug. 24 – 30.

Pfister calls Menomonee Falls, Wis., home in the winter and Fish Creek in the summer. “Creating the great sky, the bounty of the trees and grasses, the beauty of the water—all that natural wonder is the greatest gift of all!” says Pfister of painting in Door County. She paints with watercolors and oils.

Shanahan has been painting seriously since 2003. Although mainly self-taught, Shanahan has also taken many workshops to perfect her craft. She paints primarily in watercolor—a medium that intrigues, excites, and challenges her.

As a member of DCAL and a Signature member of the Southern Arizona Art Guild, Shanahan exhibits her paintings in Door County and Tucson, Ariz.

The DCAL Gallery is in the rear courtyard of the Top of the Hill Shops, located at Highway 42 and County F, Fish Creek. Hours for this season are 11 am – 5 pm daily and 11 am – 3 pm Sunday. The gallery is closed on Wednesday. For more information call 920.868.2288 or visit doorcountyartleague.org.
