DCHS Opens Doors of New Facility on Sept. 21

The Door County Humane Society (DCHS) officially opens the doors of its new facility on Sept. 21, 12 – 4 pm, with the ribbon cutting ceremony at noon.

Visitors may stroll through all the public areas to see the cat colonies and view dog kennels, meet the staff, and ask questions about animal care.

Executive Director Carrie Counihan explains, β€œThe number of animals coming into the Humane Society has increased each of the past five years, so we are very gratified by this accomplishment. We are an adoption guarantee shelter, and no Door County animal is ever turned away due to lack of space.”

Construction funds for the renovation/expansion were raised from private sources. Of the total $1.3 million cost, two-thirds has been raised, and the capital campaign continues. DCHS is located at 3475 County Road PD in Sturgeon Bay.
