DCMC Employee Receives Rural Health Ambassador Award

Door County Medical Center (DCMC) celebrates Sandy Vandertie, director of the Outpatient Services Department, who earned a 2019 Rural Health Ambassador Award.

This annual award from Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative recognizes employees at member hospitals who have gone above and beyond to promote their respective organizations and have made significant contributions to rural health care in general.

With DCMC for more than 30 years, Vandertie and has made a notable improvement in rural health care by fostering positive communication and community relations. She’s also involved in activities and events – including the Door County Half Marathon and Door County Triathlon – that enhance DCMC’s image and the relationship the organization enjoys with the surrounding service area. The triathlon “would not be possible without the commitment and leadership of Sandy Vandertie,” said Matt Luders, a Door County Triathlon board member, “and it’s why each year, the participants rate the safety experience as one of the best in the Midwest.”
