DCMM Announces Merry-time Festival of Trees Events

After a successful second season in 2013 that featured 32 festively decorated trees, the Merry-Time Festival of Trees returns to the Door County Maritime Museum in 2014. The festival will run from Nov. 15 – Dec. 9 with visitors invited to see a grand extravaganza of trees.

Visitors will have the opportunity to enter a raffle in the hopes of winning their favorite tree. Each tree will be decorated with ornaments appropriate to its sponsor.

“Businesses, organizations, artists and creative individuals are invited to donate fully-decorated trees,” said Trudy Herbst, the museum director of development.

Every day there will be a “kid’s day” during the festival. Every child accompanied by an adult will receive free admission with a nominal Cana Island restoration donation. Donations will have matching funds from Glen & Grace Rossman of Thrivent Financial. The regular adult museum admission of $8 will apply.

Special events include a children’s story hour, “A Writing Adventure” in collaboration with Write On, Door County, Pirate Day, Santa on the Tug, and more.

The event culminates with the “Jingle, Jingle, Mix & Mingle” on Dec. 9 offering food and other festivities. Silent auction bidding will run throughout the festival. Winners of the silent auction as well as the raffle drawing for trees will conclude the evening.
