DCU Boys Swimmers 7th at D1 Sectional

The Door County United (DCU) cooperative boys swimming team closed out its season Saturday at the WIAA Division 1 sectional in Neenah.

DCU, which had none of its swimmers qualify for state, finished seventh out of 11 teams at the sectional with 164 points.

“In our first year swimming at D1, we proved that we could compete against some really talented competition and found our way to a seventh-place finish [Saturday] and numerous podium swims,” said DCU head coach Erin Peterson.

Bay Port (400) won the sectional team title, followed by Neenah (309), Sheboygan North (249), Green Bay United (243) and Manitowoc (177) rounding off the top five.

DCU placed in the top six in seven events, with the team’s best finish recorded by Race Kasten, Jack Monfils, Colton Blackley and Logan Filar placing fourth in the 200-yard medley relay with a season-best time of 1 minute, 44.03 seconds.

Kasten, Monfils, Filar and Ezra Linnan recorded a season-best time when they tied for fifth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:34).

DCU’s fifth-place individual finishes included Kasten in the 50 freestyle (23.19) and Filar in the 100 freestyle (51.52), with both posting season-best times.

Monfils finished sixth in the 200 individual medley (2:08.87) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.8), while Kasten placed sixth in the 100 backstroke (57.1).
