The second “Dearly Departed” cemetery walk at the Ephraim Moravian Cemetery takes place Sept. 19, 1 – 3 pm.
The cemetery walk is the living history of those who lived and died in Ephraim. The walk features seven prominent Ephraim residents from the founding of the village in the 1850s through the 1990s. Three of the characters will be portrayed by their descendants. Refreshments, as well as historical artifacts, will be available at the Ephraim Moravian Church.
Attendees will visit each person at their gravesite and hear stories of their lives in Ephraim. The “Dearly Departed” for 2012 are: Joergen H. Amundson (portrayed by Max Sczepanski); Greta Anderson (portrayed by Angela Sherman); Hilda Paschke (portrayed by Sarah Paschke Cromell, grandniece); Lorenz Heise (portrayed by Walt Fisher); Maurice Larson (portrayed by Wayne Paschke, nephew); Helen Sohns (portrayed by Karen Sohns Ekberg, daughter); and Kay Wilson (portrayed by Jennifer Erickson).
There is a freewill offering to help defray the costs of the event.
Shuttle service to the cemetery will be continuous between the cemetery, Ephraim Moravian Church, Bethany Lutheran Church, and the parking lot behind the Ephraim Fire Department on Norway Road.
Ephraim Moravian Church and the Ephraim Historical Society sponsor the cemetery walk. For a look at last year’s walk, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLPJPiWsVmM.
