2019 Death’s Door BBQ Winners

Professional barbecue teams from around the country traveled to Washington Island for the eighth annual Death’s Door BBQ competition Aug. 23 and 24. The Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctions the event, held at the Washington Island Airport. A total of $8,000 in prize money plus various honors were awarded.

Local competitors included T-Mac Smokin’ from Sturgeon Bay, who earned a second and first place in pork; 10-76 Smoke from Sister Bay, who won fourth place in dessert with a tiramisu cheesecake; and Casey’s BBQ & Smokehouse from Egg Harbor, placing eighth overall out of 30 teams on day one with second place in pork ribs, fourth place in pork and first place in brisket.
