Deborah Dendler Exhibits in Juried Shows

Deborah Dendler, sculptor and long time resident of Door County and Newton, MA, has had a bronze sculpture juried into the National Prize Show at the Kathryn Schultz Gallery, Cambridge, MA, and another bronze sculpture juried into the Chandler Gallery 3-D Salon, also in Cambridge.

Dendler sculpts unique realistic portraits and figures in clay and fires the sculptures in her kiln. “Clay lends itself to expressive details and dramatic spontaneity,” says Dendler. “Usually I leave my terracottas unglazed because I hate to tamper with the delicate bloom of the pristine terracotta straight out of the kiln that shows sculptural forms and volumes so beautifully.”

Dendler moved to Door County in 1978 where she has maintained a sculpture studio ever since, first in an old barn in Ephraim and currently in her studio in Fish Creek.

She has exhibited sculpture extensively in galleries and museums and in solo, group, invitational and juried shows in Door County and throughout the US. In 2012, Dendler exhibited a terracotta sculpture at the Hardy Gallery in Ephraim, where it won a Juror’s Award.
