Deborah Dendler’s Pen-and-Ink Featured on “Animal” Cover

Deborah Dendler, local artist, has a drawing featured on the cover of the September issue of Animal: A Beast of a Literary Magazine. Dendler’s drawing, “Big Cat,” executed in sepia ink and bamboo pen, is part of Dendler’s series of life drawings of wild animals.

Dendler is a classically trained sculptor, with a rigorous background in drawing; her artistic practice focuses on regular life drawing, animal and human. Dendler’s drawings have appeared in numerous exhibitions, nationally and internationally, and have been published in dozens of magazines, publications and books.

Animal is an online literary magazine where artists of word and image “explore the ephemeral boundary between human and animal, publishing work that teeter on the divide between wild and domestic. We create a space where readers, viewers, writers, and artists expand the human experience by engaging their imagination with other creatures.”
