The release date for the final report, “Impacts on Upper Great Lakes Water Levels: St. Clair River,” has been pushed back again, this time to Dec. 15. The study committee said the delay is needed to allow all supporting documents to be posted for independent peer review. The study examined what effect the dredging of the St. Clair River has had on Great Lakes water levels, particularly in recent years. The study determined that the dredging and ongoing erosion of the river has little to do with the drop in water levels. Some scientists and property owner groups have disputed the findings.

The Door County League of Women Voters offers forums for contested election races. Candidates for a contested office may request a forum after filing completed nomination papers. Forums are offered only if the position is contested and at least two of the candidates agree to participate.

Requests for forums must be filed with the Door County LWV (PO Box 306, Sturgeon Bay) no later than seven days after the January 5 filing deadline. Requests will be honored in the order in which they are received.
