Destination Guide Reflects Evolution of Tourism Management

by Jen Rogers and Cambria Mueller, Destination Door County

Hello, 2020, and hello to a new look for Destination Door County, formerly the Door County Visitor Bureau.

Our new 2020 Destination Guide highlights “voluntourism,” water safety and lesser-known areas for visitors to explore around the county. Visitors tell us daily how much they love Door County, and what better way to demonstrate that love than by giving back through volunteering?

You can find our 2020 guide now at county businesses and welcome centers and online at DoorCounty.com. We printed 232,000 guides and have already sent out more than 7,000 copies this month.

The guide is the latest, most visible step to date in the rollout of our new name, Destination Door County, and our new logo.

The name reflects both tourism promotional efforts with visitors as well as an evolving responsibility to sustainably manage visitor-related development – coordinated with residents’ interests – to preserve the county’s unique identity.

Our new logo honors the county’s maritime heritage while providing an updated look to showcase Door County to the world. We’re very excited to show off our new name and logo and will be incorporating them into all aspects of Destination Door County’s website, print materials and other pieces during the coming months.
